Don’t you agree that the best cigarettes are simply beautiful to gaze at (and not to smoke)? These are my absolute favorite cigarettes both because of the design and because of the quality. In this ever-changing world quantity seems to become more important than quality and that’s sad.
Hello! How are you doing today? I’ve been busy preparing items for an upcoming gallery and doodling psychedelic cats for Tokyolux’s new line.
It’s been quite awhile since I’ve uploaded any photos of myself so I thought I’d update with an outfit finally, as I’ve really been meaning to do for quite a long time. Today’s outfit is brought to you by Tokyolux — the sweater was a gift from Audrey. I love it, it’s large and comfortable.
After these photos were taken I proceeded to burn my tights (accident) so I’ll be uploading a DIY distressed tights tutorial soon~
As you can see I’ve also added a sneak peek photo of our upcoming giveaway! A couple more items are on the way but I just couldn’t wait to show you what cute items we’ve received already. The giveaway will be taking place this spring so stay tuned for more information on that in the future!
Lastly, Siren London sent me a package stuffed full of their amazing clothing samples which I’ll also be featuring later. If you’ve never checked Siren out do so now, you’ll drool! They are the cardigan queens.
Today I had the pleasure of having lunch with my my mom.
We usually discuss all sorts of off the wall things but today she told me about my first birthday..
I don’t have a lot of memories from my childhood (and I surely could have never remembered my first birthday).
You see I’ve been planning Colette’s first birthday, I’m not sure where I want it to be but I know I want it to be as colorful and magical for her as my mom always tried to make life for me.
My mom loved rainbows and unicorns when I was a little girl so they flood my memories of my youth and I learned that on my first birthday I had a star-shaped orange cake with rainbow gumdrops baked inside.
Doesn’t that sound splendid?
So now I’m on a mission to find a recipe to such an amazing, kitschy sounding cake that must have made my day once long ago.
It wasn’t a fruit cake which most gumdrop recipes tend to be (yuck).. so I’m thinking a tasty lemon or orange cake recipe with a cup of gumdrops (cut them in half and *discard* the black licorice ones!) added would do the trick!
Use a star pan and viola you have your very own rainbowlicious surprise cake!
I can’t seem to gather my thoughts long enough to write a sensible entry~ I apologize for all the wonkiness.
Do you have memories from your childhood (either heard or remembered) that you believe shaped who you are today?
I had the recent treat to meet fellow Etsy crafter, Emi. She creates cute clay charms for her shop, Cat Bear Express, and luckily wanted to teach us to make a cute pancake!
I invited her to share her tutorial here and asked her to tell us a little about her shop and creations:
I created Cat Bear Express to spread cuteness around the world with my charms. Every piece is made by me with lots of love and care put into every detail, and I aim to bring a smile to everyone who receives a charm. I’m a gamer girl so a lot of my pieces are inspired by video games, and also anything cute, bright and girly! ~ Emi
Instructions
1. Roll out 2 pieces of light tan colored clay into flat circles
2. Roll out 2 smaller circles of a light brown clay and place one on each of the larger circles
3. Smooth down the edges of the inner circle by pressing down and pulling toward the outer sides
4. Add your toppings! For raspberries roll out 7 tiny red circles and arrange them in the shape pictured.
5. Bake according to the directions on the clay package and allow to cool. Paint on the face and attach to earrings or anything else you want.
6. Glaze or leave it for a matte look, and you’re finished!

Here are some other adorable creations Emi has made and is selling on Etsy:
I just cannot seem to get inspired so I’m forcing myself to get back into the habit of writing anyway.
I finally had a much-needed girl night this weekend.
My best friend and I decided to dress up and go to the roller derby (I was planning to feature it).
It didn’t exactly work out as planned, however. When we arrived we had to park so far away that we gave up halfway there.
We had trekked through the cold rain stinging our faces and smearing our makeup so long that we quickly grew weary of the journey left and ran back to the warm car.
We promised that we’d warm our bones with a glass of wine upon arriving home and we’d try out webcam chatting.
I tend to be too shy to try out webcam chatting, as my friends know after much begging to Skype with them, but with a couple of glasses of wine and my partner in crime by my side I feel like I can do anything. This includes sharing silly details about out night, playing and commenting on music and taking questions from viewers~ it was totally fun and a great way to wind down after a chilly night out. We used Stickam and although we did get some pervy messages the majority of the people were chill. I definitely recommend trying it out for fun and nonsense.. however watch out! One minute we had no watchers, the next we had hundreds.. and we’re total dorks!
I think it’s impossible to prepare for motherhood. No matter how prepared you think you are the actual experience is completely different.
There are many bits of advice I was given about motherhood, the most common one being that “kids change everything.” That is the best advice anyone can give you.. kids do change everything.. but you can’t really grasp how until you experience it. Now I’m going to give you a little advice I learned from the experience.
1. Life makes sense.
I’m not sure when this realization happens or if it happens for everyone, but the meaning of life seems to change completely upon meeting your child. Things that were once important seem foolish and things that seemed lame are now all the rage. You’ll feel that you have a new purpose, possibly much more prevalent than anything you had interest in before.
2. Your body will never be the same.
Your body has changed during pregnancy in very many ways and luckily most of these changes are only temporary.. however you will notice the permanent changes during your child’s first year. One obvious one for me is my cesarian scar but that’s not all I’m talking about.. my stomach looks and feels completely different.
3. Your house will no longer be the picture-perfect scene you once painstakingly designed it to be.
This is a tough one for me because I have a bit of an obsession with my environment and how it must look. It’s hard to have a swinging’ 60s lounge with baby furniture, toys, bottles, blankets and socks peeking around every corner. However these items are special to a very sweet someone that makes your home much more filled with love than it ever was before! 😉
4. Your goals will change.
All of a sudden what was most important to you must take a back-burner to what is now most important to you. Where you wanted to live, what you planned to do.. all of these things change. You’ll begin to prefer a life that is most comfortable for your child rather than yourself.
5. Your needs come last.
Your baby’s needs come first. It sounds pretty obvious but it’s a pretty tough realization that your needs may be pushed to the wayside while tending to your baby. I began to realize I no longer had to worry only about my nails, hair, teeth, feet, skin, clothes, shoes, but I was also concerned just as much with caring for someone elses’s.
Although it sounds scary.. it’s a change that happens gradually throughout your pregnancy and into new motherhood. One day you’ll realize your life is not about you anymore.. it’s about someone very loud and impatient. Your heart.
Smoking is a bad habit. It causes cancer and, if smoking indoors, can make you and your entire home smell like an ashtray. However if you’re still a smoker and have an occasional cocktail cigarette/cigar then why not decorate your dirty habit with this kitschy ashtray? Actually these don’t have to be used as ashtrays at all they can be catch-alls and candy dishes if you like!
Instructions
Gather scissors and rinse out a new soda pop can (old ones can be sticky!).
Cut the top of your can off — it doesn’t have to be perfect, these ends will be folded under.
Cut the can into thin strips and fold them flat like a daisy.
Turn the can upside down and wrap one strip left and around the one next to it (see photo).
Continue this all the way around the can.
I fell in love with this quick tutorial by Audrey to make a rock ring and had to try it myself. I have a few large rocks I’ve been saving in my jewelry box and had nothing to do with them — this is perfect for that!
As you know we have a giveaway coming soon and we’re featuring some great artists this time around! I can’t wait to fix up the giveaway package especially for you~ Stay tuned!
Also we’ve been having some issues with our mailing list software so we’ve had to switch. Sorry for any inconvenience this has caused! I usually send out a e-letter every few months to notify you of any special features you can participate in but lately our software has been a little wonky. If you wish to receive our newsletter and are not receiving it don’t fret.. just leave a response to this post or wait for an upcoming opportunity to join.
Thanks for all of your support!
Smart & Sexy lingerie is just that — it’s smart and sexy. They have flowery corsets, French maid lingerie (25% off) and tons of other cute styles. They sent me a few nighties and bra sets to try out while I was pregnant and I found that their bras offer impeccable support, comfort and are lovely to boot!
